HONOLULU—In an effort to promote Hawaii as a romantic vacation destination for younger Asian visitors, PacRim Marketing Group has produced its second music video.  “Hawaii Maybe” was been posted on YouTube and on PacRim’s Japanese, Chinese and Korean language websites which are part of its MyHawaii brand. With more than 1,000 views in each language, the music video dovetails perfectly with marketing efforts of Hawaii companies exploring ways to increase their share of the westbound Asian International Travel market, particularly the 25-to-45 demographic.

PacRim Marketing Group's MyHawaii brand Asian language websites promote Hawaii to Asian travelers by providing news, entertainment and resources in their languages. PacRim Marketing Group was looking for an opportunity to further increase brand awareness of its Korean website, www.myhawaii.kr, and its overall MyHawaii brand following the success of its “Hawaii Style” video—a parody of the Korean “Gangnam Style” video, launched in September 2012.

The new video, “Hawaii Maybe,” is based on a popular song and video by American singer, Carly Rae Jepsen.  The featured couple in the MyHawaii video takes viewers on a tour of trendy locations in Honolulu that are most popular with travelers from Asia.  The couple is filmed calling each other, meeting, dining, and dancing on Waikiki Beach with Koko Head as a backdrop, all the way to a wedding chapel in Honolulu.  Local vocalist Julie Blu and local producer Juju Beats (of Conscious Groove Records) original track used in the video.

Launched March 13, “Hawaii Maybe” can be viewed at :

Jiyeon Kim, Korean Editor/Writer/Translator at PRMG says video and YouTube are very popular in Korea and provide a good way for travelers to get more information on destination. “Nearly 100 percent of households in Korean have internet access and the number of smart phone users reached over 30 million there recently. Following trends of celebrities through viral marketing was key to the video’s popularity.”

As part of an integrated online marketing strategy for clients, PacRim Marketing Group uses YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, websites, and blogs such as Korea’s Naver and China’s Weibo and YouKu to post appealing and timely content in Asian languages.  The online strategy helps PacRim clients who want to increase the Asian International Traveler portion of their customer bases.
