Dave Erdman

Dave uses his thirty-plus years of cross-cultural communications and business experience in the marketing, hospitality, and travel industries in his consulting and business development roles at PacRim Marketing Group and PRTech.

Before establishing PacRim Marketing Group in 1990 and PRTech in 2004, Dave was a senior consultant for Hill & Knowlton/Communications - Pacific, Hawaii's largest public relations firm at the time. Prior to that, Dave worked at Tropical Rent-A-Car for ten years, where, as vice president of marketing and sales, he opened regional offices in Japan, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and was responsible for marketing car rental services in eight western U.S. states.

Dave was a director of Suntrips, a major charter operator to Hawaii and Mexico from California and assisted the firm with its operational and marketing transitional strategy after being purchased by an investment group. He also held positions at Maui Inter-Continental Hotel as Japanese Sales Account Executive, Japan Airlines Hotel Company/Nikko Hotels in Japan, and Travel Management Associates as hotel sales and marketing consultant to properties including Halekulani Hotel. He established and oversaw a sales force of 40 independent contractors across the globe to market travel services.

Dave's past and present professional affiliations include PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association), Hawaii Chapter, where he served as chairman, the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau's marketing and research committees, chair of the Retail Tourism Task Force Committee, and the Retail Merchants of Hawaii, where he continues to serve on the board of directors and on the executive committee.

In 1999, Dave was awarded The Governor's Retail Merchant Award in recognition of his contributions to the retail industry. Specifically, Dave was honored for assisting the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau with integrating retail and tourism marketing. He was the second recipient of this award that is sponsored by the Governor. In addition, Dave founded DRAMAH (Direct Response and Marketing Association, Hawaii) and has been the recipient of the Direct Marketer of the Year award.

Dave has both lived and worked in Japan and is fluent in Japanese. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Hawaii, Manoa, where he majored in Asian/Japanese Studies and minored in Travel Industry Management and Marketing. He also majored in East Asian Languages/Japanese studies and business at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania.

Jennifer Erwin

General Manager

Jennifer has a broad range of management, operations, HR, finance and sales/project management experience. She efficiently handles multiple tasks and responsibilities to help streamline processes and run the U.S. PacRim Marketing Group office smoothly.

Jennifer has more than 15 years of leadership and general management experience from Vector…a move ahead, Inc, where she led operations through growth, including development of administrative, sales and operational processes, the development and execution of multiple marketing and sales campaigns that averaged annual revenue growth of 30%. Having managed up to 50 support administrative, financial, sales and operational employees, she had been responsible for making sure business operations are efficient and effective in the fast paced environment.

Jennifer has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a Marketing emphasis. As our General Manager she directs and coordinates the administrative and oprational functions to ensure that the aim, goals, and objectives of the company are accomplished in accordance with prescribes priorities, time limitations, and funding with and in the absence of the President.

Kris Reisdorf

Senior Marketing Consultant

Kris has more than twenty years of public relations and marketing experience. She has been working with PacRim Marketing Group for the past nine years, consulting on strategic planning and account management as well as PacRim’s own external and internal communications programs.

Before that, she was the Regional Manager-Marketing Programs for GTE (now Hawaiian Telcom), in charge of international long distance advertising and marketing and GTE event sponsorships and advertising. As a senior account executive at Hill and Knowlton/Communications Pacific prior to that, she managed corporate and public affairs accounts, many Japan-based. Her work included increasing brand recognition and promoting inaugural flights to Hawaii from Japan for Japan Airlines and Japan Air Systems, through public and media relations and special events. In addition, she was responsible for speechwriting and positioning for the Consul General of Japan. She also worked in bank marketing for five years.

Kris holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business/communications from California State University at Fullerton, has studied and worked in Japan, and earned an APR (accredited public relations certification). Her public relations work has won PRSA Koa Anvil awards in the categories of Brand/Reputation Management - Business & Industry and Best Public Relations Program. She also attended the University of Redlands in California.

She currently is a member of PRSA, for which she previously held board positions, SMEI (Sales and Marketing Executives, Hawaii), and SMCH (Social Media Club Hawaii).

Irene Honma

Sr. Manager, International Sales & Marketing

Irene has over 25 years of experience in International Sales and Marketing to Japan and other Asia Markets, having worked for Aston Hotels & Resorts/Resort Quest Hawaii, Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort & Spa and Chuo Senko Advertising Co., LTD out of Japan. She is responsible for sales of all PacRim Marketing Group and PRTech tools that have been pioneered to help clients increase share and spend of the Asian International Traveler market.

Irene has launched international branding and rebranding to the Asia travel trade and to the marketplace with focus in Japan. She has extensive experience managing sales, advertising on-line and marketing budgets, implementing sales and marketing plans as well as negotiating media buys in print, online, and collateral production. Her responsibilities included monitoring revenue forecast reports, occupancy and budget report, market segment and revenue reports. She has established many close business relationships with Asia consumer media, travel trade media, and travel trade partners in the Asia Markets. She has managed branch offices in the Asia region.

Barry Nakano

Business Development
PacRim Marketing Group, Inc. and PRTech LLC

Barry speaks fluent Japanese and has more than 26 years of travel industry sales and marketing experience, focusing primarily on Asian inbound markets. He provides a “whole picture” and solutions-oriented view needed to help companies with sustained marketing and public relations activities. He is responsible for PRTech’s North America and Japan expansion, helping companies reach the Asian International Traveler market, especially with PRTech’s multilingual online reservations system, MyRez.

His background includes international, regional and property-level positions, and spans airline, hotels, rent a car and attractions. Barry previously worked at Mid Pacific Airlines in operations and then sales, later transferring to Japan where he spent two years coordinating marketing efforts out of their Tokyo office. He subsequently co-founded and managed Pacific Resorts, Inc. (PRI) in Tokyo, a GSA company representing Aston Hotels & Resorts, Polynesian Cultural Center and Budget Rent A Car. During a total of ten years in Japan, Barry developed a keen understanding of the structure and inner workings of the Japanese travel industry, as well as relationships with key members of the industry.

Barry returned to the U.S. in the early 90’s and held senior sales positions with Loews, Hyatt and Pan Pacific Hotels continuing to focus on the Japan and Asia inbound markets. While with the Pan Pacific Anaheim Hotel, the property was acquired by Disney and Barry’s role was expanded to include Japan, Asia and Latin America sales for both Disneyland Park and Disneyland Hotels.

His career later transitioned into travel technology during which he held business development positions with companies specializing in hotel reservation and ticketing technology. As vice president of business development for TravelHero.com, Barry coordinated development of their affiliate program and associated software applications, which provided online lodging reservations for over 120 official tourism bureau websites.

Maiko Hanawa

Senior Media Communications Manager
PacRim Marketing Group, Inc.

Maiko has ten years experience in International Media Relations, especially Japanese media, media coordination, press release, article and editorial writing/editing in Japanese, special event coordination, strategic media and advertising planning and buying.

As PacRim’s Media Communications Manager she meets with our clients to develop new concepts, ideas, data and applications for print, radio and television media. She assists with client marketing, sales promotions, public relations, and advertising needs and sets annual objectives for client’s media strategies and plans tie-up budgets. She is the primary Japanese contact with clients and vendors for public relations, media and events/promotions. Maiko was instrumental in opening our PacRim Tokyo office in 2004.

Kim Fujinaka

Director of Integrated Marketing  
PacRim Marketing Group, Inc.

As Director of Integrated Marketing, Kim oversees PacRim Marketing Group's Integrated Marketing Services business unit and client partner relationships to help increase their share of the Asian International Traveler market.  She is also responsible for new business development in Hawaii and North America, overseeing staff development and growth opportunities, and for managing PacRim Marketing Group's multicultural PR and marketing student internship program. 

She joined PacRim Marketing Group in 2008 and was previously the Marketing and Client Services Manager.  She manages a range of accounts, including premiere brand names in retail, airline, and hotel industries.  She leads her team, applying "best paractices" for entry into Asian markets to clients' integrated marketing communications programs. 

Kim is an active member of both the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce and the Honolulu Japanese Junior Chamber of Commerce, and served as a 2010 Cherry Blossom Festival Princess.  

She holds Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in Marketing from Loyola Marymount University, where she studied marketing promotional strategies, consumer behavior, brand management, and marketing research.

Stephen Curtis

Web Development and Online Strategy Consulting
PacRim Marketing Group, Inc.

Stephen has more than 10 years in web development and online marketing experience in the Asia-Pacific market area.

Before joining PacRim Marketing Group, Inc., and sister company, PRTech, LLC , Stephen worked for five years as a Cryptologic Chinese linguist for the Marine Corps, and graduated with Honors from the renowned Defense Language Institute in Monterey California. During those years he completed his first projects, combining an understanding of Asian culture and linguistics with web technology.

After joining PRTech in 2007, Stephen expanded his focus beyond China to include projects in Japanese and Korean. On the technical side of the company, he was the user interface developer of two different versions of the multi-language MyRez hotel reservations systems, which currently provides Chinese, Japanese and Korean language bookings for over a hundred hotels throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

Stephen helped expand PRTech's technology and marketing strategies, making the company an early adopter of social media, mobile responsive design, HTML5 and mobile platforms. He also developed client projects including Asian and English language websites, online marketing programs, and user interface for multi-faceted resort destinations, branded multi-property portals, independent hotel properties, visitor and convention bureaus, including Asia-Pacific attendance building platforms, and branded restaurant groups.

In 2009 Stephen expanded his role to include International and Online Marketing Strategies for PacRim Marketing Group, as well as PRTech. In this new role, he has coordinated successful international promotional events such as the Chinese focused "Shop Hawaii/Shop Las Vegas." He also manages the online strategy for the three most successful commercial web portal sites about Hawaii in Chinese, Japanese and Korean: Hawaii-Arukikata.com(MyHawaii.jp), MyHawaii.kr and MyHawaii.cn.

In 2012 Stephen led the development of the new MyAsiaLinks project. A database drive, mobile responsive, 4 Asian language hotel system designed to give every hotel an affordable option to target outbound Asian International travelers (AIT), without sacrificing the quality and cultural nuance lost in simple "translation" websites. This new system is rapidly being adopted by hotels of all sizes in major destinations across North America because of its low cost, fast deployment, "photography first" design, and universal device support.

Akiko Mori

Chief Editor and Content Manager
PacRim Marketing Group, Inc.

Akiko develops content, writes, and edits all content for the popular web portal site about Hawaii, Hawaii-Arukikata.

She previously was a Writer/Editor at PacRim Marketing Group, having joined the company in 2007. Since 2000, she worked as an outside consultant/writer for PacRim Marketing Group’s online Japanese portal website. Additionally, she was a free-lance writer for Hawaii Pacific Press. She also previously worked at International House Osaka, in Japan, where she planned, coordinated, and managed international conferences and concerts.

Mori has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Asian Studies from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and attended the Master of Arts program in Asian Studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, with a focus on literature.

Jon Kaneshiro Jon Kaneshiro

Chief Technology Officer

As Chief Technology Officer for PRTech, Jon has a broad range of responsibilities including software/system development, documentation and ongoing product management for major clients’ web sites/software. He deals with all aspects of the businesses operations, including research, concept definition, design, systems development scheduling, production and logistics. 

Jon has held a System Developer position at Wave Internet, LLC where he worked on database-driven applications utilizing ASP.NET, ASP, VBScript, JavaScript and SQL technologies and Mainframe Backup Operator for Pacific Asia Computer Services, Inc. performing daily and weekly backups and providing client technical support.

PacRim Marketing Group, Inc. incorporated its Tokyo office in 2006. PacRim Marketing Group, Tokyo, Inc. is now a wholly-owned sister company of PacRim Marketing Group, which operates under the guidance of PacRim President Dave Erdman.

PacRim Marketing Group Tokyo collaborates with PacRim Marketing Group, Inc.’s U.S. office to provide client support and implement integrated marketing in Japan, including event coordination, press relations, trade show representation, database development, and consumer and trade industry requests. Its unique 3-story Posh Building office in vibrant Shinjuku has served as a sales gallery and meeting location for media and clients.

The Tokyo office staff maintains a network of key affiliates in Japan to enhance its ability to assist clients with promotions, events, translation, interpretation, presentations, and general marketing and distribution of advertising and sales materials.

 

Tamae Erdman

Vice President-Human Resources and Administration

Tamae handles Human Resources and administration for all three PacRim companies (PacRim Marketing Group, Inc., PacRim Tokyo, KK, and PRTech, LLC). In the role of Vice President, she develops and manages policies and procedures and bridges communication between each company as well as between the executive department and the other departments at PacRim Marketing Group’s U.S. headquarters in Honolulu.

She has been instrumental in negotiating vendor contracts, including those involving new and social media, for the benefit of our clients. In addition, Tamae played a crucial role in opening the PacRim Tokyo office.

Tamae is originally from the Ibaraki Prefecture, just outside of Tokyo, Japan. Her professional experience includes time spent to develop and manage the Intercultural Communication College in Honolulu, Hawaii as well as management functions for Kamaole Land Venture, a Japanese/American development company. She also lived and worked for a few years in Guam.
