Hawaii Marketers Use ‘Tweets’ to Connect Japanese to Hawaii

PacRim Marketing Group Inc., an international company based in Honolulu, has started “tweeting” in Japanese.

With up to 50 followers already, the Twitter posts help people in Japan keep tabs on the popular travel and lifestyle Web site Hawaii-arukikiata.com.

Twitter is just starting to catch on in Japan, where people “are quick to adapt to things that they think are cool,” said Dave Erdman, president and CEO of PacRim, which also uses videos and podcasts to reach viewers in Asia.  PacRim hopes to educate its international followers about Twitter, and at the same time promote travel to Hawaii.

Next for the company: Korean tweets.
